About this opportunity

This federal grant opportunity from the United States Department of Agriculture's National Institute of Food and Agriculture seeks applications for integrated education and extension projects to increase participation of women and underrepresented minorities from rural areas in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics fields. Applicants such as state agricultural experiment stations, colleges, universities, and other research institutions must address at least two specified educational need areas and increase experiential learning opportunities in food and agricultural sciences. Applications will be evaluated based on the relevance to program priorities, proposal quality, technical merit, potential for positive impact, and applicant qualifications. The deadline for submissions is February 9, 2024.

Approximately $1.8 million is available to fund up to nine grants of up to $200,000 each for periods of 24 to 36 months. Funded projects will conduct research and outreach activities to develop learning materials, mentoring opportunities, and leadership programs focused on careers in STEM disciplines related to agriculture.
