About this opportunity

This Federal Grant Opportunity is a fiscal year 2024 cooperative agreement program from the United States Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) Wildlife Services (WS) to control and prevent chronic wasting disease (CWD) in wild cervids. APHIS WS anticipates awarding around $5,500,000 in funding to eligible applicants, which include State departments of agriculture, animal health agencies, and wildlife/natural resources agencies; Federally recognized Native American Tribal governments and organizations; and research institutions and universities. Applicants may submit multiple proposals of up to $250,000 each to support CWD surveillance, testing, management, prevention, and response activities, as well as applied research on CWD detection, prevention, and control. Proposals must be submitted through ezFedGrants by June 10, 2024.

The funding will be provided under the USDA APHIS Wildlife Services program (CFDA 10.028). The performance period for selected projects will begin on or before September 30, 2024 and last up to 12 months, with a possible 12-month extension.
