About this opportunity

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) under the Department of the Interior is seeking applicants for the FY2024 Water Resources Research Act Program National Competitive Grants (104g General) competition. This program provides funding to support water resources research conducted through the 54 Water Resources Research Institutes located at designated state universities across the United States and its territories. Eligible applicants are the established Water Resources Research Institutes, and any investigator at a U.S. institution of higher learning may apply through an eligible Institute. Proposals must address the program's specific research priorities, such as national-scale water budget evaluations, socioeconomics, and model advancement, and will be competitively reviewed and scored based on criteria including scientific value, benefits, and educational components. The deadline for submitting proposals is May 30, 2024.

The total estimated funding available is $1,860,000, with a maximum award of $310,000 per project. Awards will be fully funded for 1-3 year projects starting in December 2024. A cost share of at least 1:1 non-federal match is required. The projects can be conducted at the 54 eligible Water Resources Research Institutes located across the United States and its territories.
