About this opportunity

The Department of Veterans Affairs' Legal Services for Homeless Veterans and Veterans At-Risk for Homelessness Grant Program seeks applicants to provide legal services to eligible veterans who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Applicants must be public or non-profit entities with the demonstrated capacity to serve this veteran population. Approximately $26.8 million is available for 14-month grants to address the top 10 unmet legal needs as identified in the VA's CHALENG survey, as well as matters relating to housing, family law, income support, criminal defense and other issues. Applications are due February 23, 2024 with awards to be announced July 1, 2024 to fund operations beginning August 1, 2024.

The NOFO specifies that grant awards will range from $100,000 to $500,000 to support legal services provided by the applicant organizations. Preference will be given to applicants demonstrating experience serving veterans experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness across a network of locations to ensure nationwide availability of services.
