About this opportunity

The Department of Health and Human Services Administration for Community Living (ACL) is seeking applications for up to 3 five-year grants to fund University Centers for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities Education, Research, and Service (UCEDD). These centers will carry out four core functions: interdisciplinary pre-service preparation and continuing education, community services and training, research, and information dissemination. Eligible applicants are entities designated as UCEDDs that were awarded five-year core funds in fiscal year 2020. Key requirements include maintaining a Consumer Advisory Committee, demonstrating cultural competency, and implementing activities across areas like quality assurance, education, healthcare, employment, housing and transportation. The application deadline is February 24, 2025, and an informational webinar will be held on December 12, 2024.

The award ceiling is $640,536 and the floor is $620,675 per applicant per budget period, with a required 25% cost share. Recent UCEDD awards have ranged from approximately $600,000 to $2.5 million per grant over 5-year project periods. This program operates under CFDA 93.632 and supports university-affiliated centers in providing interdisciplinary training, community services, research initiatives, and information dissemination related to developmental disabilities.

Synopsis

AoD's Office of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (OIDD), Administration on Disabilities, Administration for Community Living (ACL), U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) forecasts the possible availability of Fiscal Year (FY) 2025 funds to make five-year grants to up to 3 entities designated as University Centers for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities Education, Research, and Service (UCEDD). These grantees carry out four core functions: (1) interdisciplinary pre-service preparation and continuing education of students; (2) community services, including training, technical assistance, and/or demonstration and model activities; (3) research; and (4) dissemination of information. UCEDDs are interdisciplinary education, research and public service units of universities, or public or not-for-profit entities associated with universities that implement the four core functions addressing, directly or indirectly, one or more of the areas of emphasis (e.g., quality assurance, education and early intervention, child care, health, employment, housing, transportation, recreation and other services available or offered to individuals in a community, including formal and informal community supports, that affect their quality of life). Funds made available under this proposed funding opportunity will be used to pay for the Federal share of the cost of the administration and operation of programs.
