About this opportunity

The National Institute on Aging is forecasting a Notice of Funding Opportunity to establish a Translational Center for Accelerating the Use of Digital Health Technologies Data in Alzheimer's Disease and AD-Related Dementias research; applications are not being solicited at this time, and no hard application deadline is set. The Center will develop infrastructure, methods, and best practices for hosting, discovering, accessing, disseminating, and integrating multi-modal, legacy, and new digital health technology data to accelerate their reuse in translational and clinical AD/ADRD research.

Eligible applicants include higher education institutions (public and private), 501(c)(3) and non-501(c)(3) nonprofits, for-profit organizations, small businesses, state and local governments, tribal governments (federally and non-federally recognized), faith-based and community-based organizations, regional organizations, U.S. territories or possessions, and eligible federal agencies.

The Center will establish a cloud-based, federated, Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable (FAIR) data infrastructure for secure storage, processing, dissemination, analysis, and multi-modal integration of legacy and new digital health technology data generated by AD/ADRD studies supported by NIH and other funding organizations. The funding instrument is a cooperative agreement using the U54 activity code.

No award ceiling, floor, expected number of awards, period of performance, cost share requirements, or evaluation criteria are specified in this forecast notice. The opportunity falls under Assistance Listing 93.866 (Aging Research). The source does not identify an incumbent recipient. Prospective applicants are encouraged to begin developing meaningful collaborations and responsive projects in advance of the NOFO publication.

Forecast synopsis

The National Institute on Aging (NIA) intends to publish a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) that aims to establish a multi-component Translational Center for Accelerating the Use of Digital Health Technologies (DHT) Data in Alzheimer's Disease (AD) and AD-Related Dementias (ADRD) research. The purpose of the Center is to develop infrastructure, methods, and best practices for hosting, discovering, accessing, disseminating, and integrating multi-modal, legacy, and new DHT data, and accelerate their (re)use in translational and clinical AD/ADRD research. To this end, the Center will establish a DHT data repository as a cloud-based; federated; Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable (FAIR) data infrastructure for the secure storage, processing, dissemination, analysis, and multi-modal integration of legacy and new DHT data generated by AD/ADRD studies supported by NIH and other funding organizations.

Applications are not being solicited at this time. Notice is being provided to allow potential applicants sufficient time to develop meaningful collaborations and responsive projects. This NOFO intends to utilize the U54 activity code. Investigators with expertise and insights into this area of aging research are encouraged to begin to consider applying for this new NOFO.
