About this opportunity

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is seeking applications from organizations with a history of providing effective technical assistance to public water systems. The key requirements include providing training and technical assistance in three National Priority Areas: 1) assisting small public water systems to achieve compliance with the Safe Drinking Water Act, 2) supporting small publicly-owned wastewater and onsite/decentralized systems to improve water quality, and 3) helping private drinking water well owners improve water quality. Applicants must demonstrate a proven track record in delivering effective, results-oriented technical assistance. The application deadline is November 25, 2024.

The total available funding is approximately $30.7 million, with individual awards up to $13 million, $1.25 million, or $3.45 million for each respective National Priority Area. Eligible applicants are nonprofit organizations, nonprofit private universities/colleges, and public institutions of higher education. The federal grants will be awarded as Cooperative Agreements, with projects expected to be performed nationwide to support water systems and communities across the United States.

Synopsis

Under this Notice of Funding Opportunity, EPA is seeking applications from organizations with a demonstrable history of providing effective, results-oriented technical assistance to public water systems. The agency's priorities include maximizing funds to provide significant benefit to drinking water systems in communities of need; tackling the climate crisis; and advancing environmental justice and equity. The EPA believes this funding plays a significant role in ensuring continued access to resources to support infrastructure improvements that protect public health, safeguard the environment, and advance environmental justice at the public water system level.
