About this opportunity

The National Institutes of Health National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) is forecasting a cooperative agreement opportunity to fund the Next Generation of the Clinical and Translational Science Awards Program Trial Innovation Network, a collaborative initiative addressing critical roadblocks in the design and implementation of multi-center clinical trials. This is a forecast with no posted hard deadline date; applications will be invited in a subsequent Notice of Funding Opportunity.

Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) nonprofits, non-501(c)(3) nonprofits, for-profit organizations, small businesses, higher education institutions (public and private), city, county, state, and tribal governments, independent school districts, special district governments, public or Indian housing authorities, Indian and Native American tribal governments (federally and non-federally recognized), U.S. territories or possessions, faith-based or community-based organizations, regional organizations, and eligible federal agencies.

The TIN program aims to execute trials better, faster, and more cost-efficiently, and to serve as a national national laboratory for studying and innovating the process of conducting multi-center clinical trials. Topics of interest include safety monitoring tools and resources, trial leader training and mentorship, digital health technologies, genomic capacity, and disease progression modeling.

Applications will undergo NIH standard peer-review processes, with evaluation focused on scientific merit and significance, technical adequacy of experimental design, investigator competency, facilities and resources, budget necessity, and relevance to program objectives. Awards are made under Sections 301 and 405 of the Public Health Service Act and 42 CFR Part 52 and 2 CFR Part 200. The program operates under CFDA 93.350 (National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences).
