About this opportunity

The U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs, Office of Assistance Coordination (NEA/AC) is seeking applicants for a cooperative agreement to support stabilization activities in areas of Syria liberated from the Islamic State. The key objective is to improve equitable access to quality education services for children, youth, and young adults in non-regime-held areas to help reduce the flow of Syrians to neighboring countries and deny extremists the ability to indoctrinate the next generation. Applicants must demonstrate their ability to provide moderate, quality education and technical/vocational training. Proposals will be evaluated on factors such as program design, organizational capacity, and ability to reach target populations. The application deadline is July 15, 2021.

This funding opportunity is part of the Syria Assistance Program (CFDA 19.601), which supports the foreign assistance goals and objectives of the Department of State's Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs. While specific award amounts are not provided, the grant aims to support stabilization activities and education services in non-regime-held areas of Syria.

Synopsis

The U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs, Office of Assistance Coordination (NEA/AC) aims to support stabilization activities in areas liberated from the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) as well as those in non-regime-held areas of Syria. Integral to stabilization efforts is improved equitable access for Syrians to moderate, quality education services for children and youth as well as access to technical and vocational education for out-of-work youth and young adults. Quality education services are critical to denying extremists the space to indoctrinate the next generation of Syrians with violent extremist ideologies, as well as to help reduce the flow of further Syrians to neighboring countries in pursuit of opportunities for their children in order to avoid a lost generation.
