About this opportunity
The Department of State's Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs (NEA/AC) is seeking applications to support and strengthen American-style Institutions of Higher Education (IHEs) in Iraq, including the Iraqi Kurdistan Region. The primary objectives are to help Iraqi IHEs approach American higher education standards, develop new and ongoing partnerships with U.S. IHEs, and provide financial assistance to recruit and retain diverse students, with a focus on supporting women. Eligible applicants are non-state sponsored, American-style IHEs in Iraq that offer postsecondary academic programs. Applicants must submit a comprehensive Results Monitoring Plan, Logic Model, and Social Inclusion Analysis as part of the application requirements.
The estimated total program funding is $10 million, with approximately 4 awards ranging from $1 million to $3 million over 12-24 months. The application deadline is May 19, 2024, and the expected award notification date is August 1, 2024. The related federal grant program is the Department of State's Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs (CFDA 19.600), which supports the agency's foreign assistance goals and objectives for the entire fiscal year.
