About this opportunity
The Department of State's Office of Global Criminal Justice is announcing a federal grant opportunity for organizations to submit a statement of interest (SOI) for the Accountability for Mass Atrocities Program. The program aims to strengthen national and international accountability mechanisms investigating and prosecuting mass atrocities committed during armed conflict and times of peace, including transitional justice processes. Key objectives include strengthening justice mechanisms, expanding criminal justice practitioner capabilities, enhancing stakeholder participation in transitional justice, and supporting implementation of transitional justice mechanisms. Eligible applicants include non-profits, for-profits, educational institutions, and public international organizations. The two-step application process requires an initial 1-5 page SOI, followed by full proposals from selected applicants, with a deadline of March 3, 2025, at 17:00 ET.
The total funding available is $2 million, with 2-4 awards ranging from $250,000 to $2 million each. Projects should run 12-24 months starting in October 2025 and can be implemented in various countries affected by conflict or human rights violations. Organizations with a field presence in the proposed countries will receive preference, and all applicants must have active SAM.gov registration with a UEI number.
