About this opportunity
The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) is soliciting applications for the State Pilot Program for Treatment for Pregnant and Postpartum Women, with an application deadline of July 15, 2026. Recipients funded in FY 2024 under this same program (NOFO TI-24-002) are ineligible to apply.
Eligible applicants are Single State Agencies for Substance Use, the District of Columbia, U.S. territories (Guam, Puerto Rico, Northern Mariana Islands, Virgin Islands, American Samoa, Federated States of Micronesia, Marshall Islands, and Palau), and state and local government, tribal government, state administrative agencies, service providers, nonprofit organizations, universities, research institutions, and training and technical assistance providers.
The program strengthens and expands integrated, evidence-based substance use disorder (SUD) and maternal mental health services for pregnant and postpartum women and their families. The program aims to improve maternal and infant health outcomes by addressing SUD and co-occurring substance use and mental health conditions through comprehensive screening, treatment, recovery supports, and workforce development. Priority populations include pregnant and postpartum women with primary diagnoses of SUDs, including opioid use disorder, and co-occurring mental health conditions, their infants and families, and communities disproportionately impacted by maternal morbidity and mortality.
This opportunity is assigned to the Center for Substance Abuse Treatment Projects of Regional and National Significance (CFDA 93.490). Applications undergo merit review including program analysis and CSAT National Advisory Council concurrence. Award amounts, expected number of awards, period of performance, and evaluation criteria are determined as part of the Notice of Funding Opportunity.
Synopsis
The purpose of this program is to strengthen and expand the state system's ability to provide integrated, evidence-based substance used disorder (SUD) and maternal mental health services for pregnant and post-partum women (PPW) and their families.
