About this opportunity

NASA Headquarters Space Technology Mission Directorate is releasing an umbrella NASA Research Announcement for Space Technology Research, Development, Demonstration, and Infusion-2026 (SpaceTech REDDI-2026) on or about December 9, 2025, soliciting proposals through cooperative agreements, grants, and procurement contracts; individual technology-specific appendices will be released on a rolling basis with their own application deadlines throughout the anticipated one-year umbrella period.

Participation is open to U.S. and non-U.S. educational institutions, industry, nonprofits, Federally Funded Research and Development Centers, University Affiliated Research Centers, and other government agencies. NASA Centers, NASA civil servants, facilities, and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory may not be recipients of NASA grants, cooperative agreements, or subawards from NASA grant or cooperative agreement recipients. Individual appendices may impose additional eligibility limitations specific to their technology topics.

STMD advances transformational space technologies supporting future NASA, other government, and commercial missions, with three strategic aims: advance U.S. space technology innovation and competitiveness globally, encourage technology-driven economic growth with emphasis on the expanding space economy, and develop the U.S. aerospace technology community. The program is aligned with NASA's Moon to Mars objectives and uses a Technology Strategy to prioritize specific technical challenges informed by the 2024 Civil Space Shortfall Ranking, which integrates input from NASA Mission Directorates, Centers, industry, government agencies, and academia.

All proposals undergo administrative, merit, and financial review; merit review is based on peer review where applicable. Award selection announcements generally occur 150 to 220 days after the proposal due date, following federal budget approval. Award timelines may extend due to budget delays, required approvals, or requests for additional applicant information. Proposals submitted late or failing to meet preparation requirements, responsiveness standards, or submission lead time will be returned without review and are not subject to appeal.
