The National Park Service seeks applicants to improve resource stewardship along the U.S.-Mexico border through its Southwest Border Resource Protection Program. Eligible applicants include educational institutions, non-profits, tribes, and state and local governments to conduct scientific research, cultural and natural resource conservation projects, and interpretation initiatives in partnership with both U.S. National Park units and protected areas in Mexico. Applicants must submit proposals by December 17, 2023, and awards will be announced on April 1, 2024 to support work conducted between April 1, 2025 and December 31, 2026.

Individual awards under the program are anticipated to range from $10,000 to $55,000 with total estimated program funding of $275,000. Funded projects must directly engage and benefit National Park Service units in the Intermountain Region located along the U.S.-Mexico border, including Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument, Big Bend National Park, Amistad National Recreation Area, and others.
