About this opportunity

The Department of Energy's Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) is soliciting applications for the Solar with Wildlife and Ecosystem Benefits 2 (SolWEB2) program. This funding opportunity seeks projects that will improve the compatibility of large-scale solar (LSS) facilities with wildlife and ecosystems. Applicants can apply for one of two topic areas: (1) research, technical assistance, and stakeholder engagement to mitigate LSS impacts on wildlife, or (2) technical assistance and outreach to facilitate the adoption of agrivoltaics. Proposals will be evaluated based on their technical merit, innovation, team expertise, and potential for impact. Key deadlines include concept papers due February 14, 2025 and full applications due May 2, 2025.

The SolWEB2 program has approximately $11 million in total funding available, with $8 million allocated for Topic Area 1 and $3 million for Topic Area 2. Individual awards are expected to range from $1-3 million. Work under this program is anticipated to commence on January 1, 2026 and be performed within the United States at recipient facilities or field sites.
