About this opportunity
The Administration for Children and Families (ACF), specifically the Administration for Native Americans (ANA), is soliciting grant applications for the Social and Economic Development Strategies (SEDS) program to support community-driven projects targeting Native American communities. The program seeks proposals from 501(c)(3) nonprofits, tribal organizations, tribal governments, and other eligible entities focused on growing local economies, strengthening Native American families, and addressing social and economic infrastructure challenges. Eligible applicants must serve American Indian tribes (both federally and non-federally recognized), Native Hawaiians, Alaska Natives, and Native American Pacific Islanders, with a primary objective of promoting social and economic self-sufficiency. Evaluation criteria will likely emphasize community impact, cultural preservation, and potential for sustainable economic development. The grant opportunity is open from July 22, 2024, with a final application deadline of July 22, 2025.
The total funding available is $18 million, with approximately 20 awards anticipated ranging from $100,000 to $900,000, depending on the selected project period of 12, 24, or 36 months. Successful applicants must provide a 20% cost-sharing match and are expected to commence projects by September 30, 2025. The place of performance will be within the designated Native American communities, with projects aimed at developing local economic capacity, preserving cultural heritage, and improving social infrastructure across various regions including tribal lands, Native Hawaiian communities, Alaska Native settlements, and Pacific Islander territories.
