About this opportunity
The National Cancer Institute is forecasting a single-source cooperative agreement to support a five-year continuation of the Coordinating Center for the Small Cell Lung Cancer Consortium, which operates as a shared-resource hub coordinating prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and resistance-mechanism research across the consortium network. This is a forecast NOFO with no posted application deadline; the agency intends to invite application(s) from eligible organization(s) and will conduct peer review of meritorious submissions.
Eligible applicants include public or Indian housing authorities, county governments, 501(c)(3) and non-501(c)(3) nonprofits, tribal governments (federally recognized and not federally recognized), for-profit organizations, special district governments, state governments, city or township governments, private and public higher education institutions, small businesses, independent school districts, faith-based or community-based organizations, regional organizations, eligible federal agencies, U.S. territories or possessions, and non-domestic (foreign) entities.
The Coordinating Center manages administrative operations, centralized databases, tissue banking and virtual biospecimen resources, biostatistics and bioinformatics support, in vivo and in vitro model repositories, and communications and website operations for the consortium. Since establishment under the Recalcitrant Cancer Research Act, the CC has enabled advances in molecular characterization, tumor heterogeneity, microenvironment and immune evasion, biomarker development, preclinical models, therapeutic strategies, and clinical translation. The current CC is based at Sloan Kettering with collaborating institutions and organizes meetings, maintains extensive -omics and model resources, supports young investigators, and provides datasets and models to the research community. The reissue will sustain these shared resources and collaborations.
Applications will undergo NIH standard peer review, with only meritorious applications considered for funding. The opportunity is assigned to four NCI parent grant programs: Cancer Detection and Diagnosis Research (CFDA 93.394), Cancer Treatment Research (CFDA 93.395), Cancer Cause and Prevention Research (CFDA 93.393), and Cancer Biology Research (CFDA 93.396).
Forecast synopsis
Through this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO), the National Cancer Institute (NCI) intends to continue to support the Coordinating Center (CC) for the Small Cell Lung Cancer (SCLC) Consortium, which coordinates research on prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and mechanisms of resistance in SCLC. The CC manages administrative activities, centralized databases, tissue banking and a virtual biospecimen resource, biostatistics and bioinformatics support, in vivo and in vitro model repositories, and communications and website operations for the Consortium. Since its establishment in response to the Recalcitrant Cancer Research Act, the Consortium has catalyzed SCLC-focused research and enabled major advances in molecular characterization, tumor heterogeneity, microenvironment and immune evasion, biomarker development, preclinical models, therapeutic strategies, and clinical translation. The current U24 CC, based at Sloan Kettering with collaborating institutions, organizes meetings, maintains extensive -omics and model resources, supports young investigators, and provides datasets and models to the research community. The reissue NOFO will support a five-year cooperative agreement to sustain these shared resources and collaborations. This is a Forecast for a single source that will invite application(s) from eligible organization(s) to apply. Please see the Eligibility Section for additional information.
