About this opportunity

The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) is seeking grant applications for the FY 2026 Health Center Program Service Area Competition (SAC), aimed at improving healthcare for underserved communities by supporting comprehensive, high-quality primary healthcare services. Eligible applicants include tribal organizations, city/township governments, nonprofits, county and state governments, and tribal governments, with a requirement to serve at least 75% of the Service Area Announcement Table (SAAT) patient target. The competition focuses on delivering primary medical care, dental services, mental health treatment, substance use disorder services, and patient support services, with an emphasis on chronic disease prevention and management. Evaluation criteria will likely include the applicant's ability to provide comprehensive health services, demonstrate compliance with Health Center Program requirements, and show stable patient trends. The application process is two-phased, with initial submissions due on October 10, 2025, in Grants.gov and a second phase due on November 10, 2025, in EHBs.

The total available funding is approximately $171,000,000, with expectations to award 51 grants of varying amounts. Awards will support one to four 12-month budget periods, with potential performance periods from May 1, 2026, to April 30, 2027, or April 30, 2030. The grants will be awarded under the Health Center Program (CFDA 93.224), targeting service delivery in the United States and its territories. Funding amounts will vary per award, with typical ranges between $500,000 and $2,000,000, depending on the scope and complexity of the proposed healthcare services. Priority will be given to applicants with Patient-Centered Medical Home recognition and demonstrated ability to serve medically underserved populations.
