About this opportunity

This Request for Information (RFI) is issued by the U.S. Agency for International Development's (USAID) Egypt Mission (USAID/Egypt) to gather input on a potential upcoming activity to support energy sector reform and resilience in Egypt. USAID/Egypt is designing a new five-year, $20-25 million activity to reform the power sector, including adopting more competitive market practices, creating conditions for private investment, decarbonizing the power sector, and building energy supply resilience. The RFI seeks comments, opinions, and recommendations from interested parties to help guide the design of this potential activity, which would be funded under USAID's Foreign Assistance for Programs Overseas program. Responses are due by October 30, 2024, but will not provide any advantage or preclude organizations from a future solicitation.

The proposed activity aligns with the Government of Egypt's (GOE) target to produce 42% of electricity from renewables by 2035, as outlined in the Nexus of Water, Food and Energy (NWFE) program and the related Energy Wealth Initiative. The activity aims to support Egypt's efforts to reform its power sector and scale up renewable energy to drive equitable, inclusive, and sustainable economic growth.
