About this opportunity
This Request for Information from the Department of Energy's National Energy Technology Laboratory seeks stakeholder input to inform research needs related to basin-scale carbon capture and storage development. The RFI requests responses by February 23, 2024 to six questions addressing processes requiring further characterization, data needs for site screening and selection, optimization and risk management tools, challenges of multiple projects within a basin, monitoring strategies, and priority basins. The goal is to identify stakeholder needs and concerns regarding basin-scale effects of carbon capture and storage.
No applications or awards are associated with this RFI. The purpose is to gather information that may help structure future funding opportunities through the Department's CarbonSAFE Initiative and Fossil Energy Research and Development Program, which aims to advance carbon storage technologies and minimize environmental impacts of fossil fuels.
