About this opportunity

The U.S. Department of State's Embassy Accra seeks applicants for a Public Diplomacy Grants/Small Grants Program for Ghana with an application deadline of August 14, 2026, at 11:59 PM EST. The program distributes $120,000 in total funding across 2–8 awards ranging from $15,000 to $60,000 per award. Eligible applicants include not-for-profit organizations, educational institutions (both public and private), individuals, and public international organizations; for-profit entities are not eligible. All organizations must obtain a Unique Entity Identifier (UEI) and maintain active registration in SAM.gov, though individuals and certain exempt organizations are excluded from this requirement.

Projects must advance U.S.-Ghana bilateral relations and U.S. foreign policy priorities across two primary goal areas: strengthening U.S.-Ghana partnership and shared values through Freedom 250 celebrations, interfaith dialogue, alumni engagement, arts and culture, and media freedom; and advancing economic prosperity and innovation through U.S.-Ghana collaboration, including AI and STEM leadership, trade advancement, and economic reporting. Target audiences include emerging voices (youth, students, young professionals), established opinion leaders (business executives, academics, policymakers, military leadership), press and media professionals, and partner organizations (NGOs, think tanks, business associations, universities, law enforcement).

The performance period spans 3–10 months (preferably 10 months or less), with an anticipated project start within 90 days of award. Review criteria weight program quality and feasibility (30 points), organizational capacity and grant history (25 points), project planning ability (20 points), budget (10 points), monitoring and evaluation (10 points), and sustainability (5 points). The funding instrument is a grant under CFDA 19.040 (Public Diplomacy Programs). Applications must include mandatory federal forms (SF-424, SF-424A, SF-424B), a 5-page narrative proposal, detailed line-item budget with justification narrative, key personnel resumes, letters of support from partners, proof of non-profit status and registration, and a required security package. Questions must be submitted by August 12, 2026.
