About this opportunity

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration is soliciting applications for community-wide prevention programs to prevent and reduce drug overdose deaths by expanding access to FDA-approved opioid overdose reversal medications, with applications due July 27, 2026. Organizations may submit multiple applications only if each addresses a different population of focus or different geographic/catchment area; currently funded organizations submitting applications with the same population and geography as their active award will be screened out, as will second applications from new organizations with duplicative scope. No organization may receive more than two awards under this opportunity.

Eligible applicants include Single State Agencies for Substance Use, U.S. territories (District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico, Northern Mariana Islands, Virgin Islands, American Samoa, Federated States of Micronesia, Republic of the Marshall Islands, and Republic of Palau), local and tribal governments (federally recognized tribes and tribal organizations), state administrative agencies, service providers, community and nonprofit organizations, universities and colleges, research institutions, and training and technical assistance providers.

This opportunity operates under CFDA 93.490 (Center for Substance Abuse Treatment Projects of Regional and National Significance). Awards are determined through merit review of proposed project descriptions, program analysis, and concurrence from the CSAT National Advisory Council. Specific details on award amounts, floor and ceiling, period of performance, and number of expected awards are determined as part of the NOFO. Recipients must retain records for three years beyond the award period, or longer if final audit has not been completed or findings resolved.
