About this opportunity
The National Endowment for the Arts is soliciting applications for State & Regional Partnership Agreement grants due September 29, 2026, with awards supporting activities beginning July 1, 2027 or later. Eligible applicants are limited to the nation's 56 state and jurisdictional arts agencies (SAAs), the six regional arts organizations (RAOs) whose members comprise SAAs, and the national service organization for state arts agencies; no other applicant types are eligible.
State Partnership Agreement grants fund general execution of the SAA's strategic plan plus designated funding for folk and traditional arts, arts education, Poetry Out Loud programming, and outreach to underserved communities. Regional Partnership Agreement grants support general strategic plan implementation and designated activities in accessibility and folk and traditional arts. Applicants must conduct public planning with constituents, partners, and stakeholders to identify needs and align with NEA priorities.
Recent awards range from approximately $350 thousand to $2.5 million, with performance periods spanning one to two years. The program issued roughly 63 awards annually over 2021–2025. Awards are evaluated on planning process and implementation and accomplishments, reviewed by the National Council on the Arts, and approved by the NEA Chair in late March. Funding is subject to annual review and approval. Grantees must retain records for three years following submission of the Final Federal Financial Report. Some projects may be subject to the National Environmental Policy Act and/or the National Historic Preservation Act compliance requirements.
The Assistance Listing / CFDA number is 45.025.
