About this opportunity
The Department of Justice Office on Violence Against Women is accepting applications for the Fiscal Year 2026 Sexual Assault Services Formula Program, with applications due July 7, 2026. Eligible applicants are state governments and territories that will serve as administering agencies distributing funds to rape crisis centers and nonprofit organizations within their jurisdictions.
The program funds intervention, advocacy, accompaniment, support services, and related assistance for adult, youth, and child victims of sexual assault; family and household members of such victims; and those collaterally affected by the victimization, excluding the perpetrator. Services are designed to be victim-centered and culturally sensitive, supporting victims through the healing process while facilitating navigation of medical, criminal justice, and social support systems.
Based on the Fiscal Year 2025 cycle, award amounts ranged from approximately $258,000 to $2.1 million with two-year performance periods. The program operates as a formula grant distributed through the Department of Justice and administered via the JustGrants system. Applicants must apply through Grants.gov and JustGrants. Financial records, supporting documents, and all pertinent records must be retained for three years from final expenditure report submission; if litigation, claims, or audits are pending, records must be retained until resolution and final action.
Recipients must comply with the Department of Justice Financial Grants Management Guide and comprehensive documentation requirements. The program notice of funding opportunity (NOFO) contains criteria for award selection. Renewals are considered on a case-by-case basis. Applicants will be notified by the end of the fiscal year, with online notification triggering the requirement for the Authorized Representative to accept the award online.
The program is authorized under 34 U.S.C. 12511(a)(1) and assigned CFDA 16.017.
