About this opportunity
The OVW Fiscal Year 2024 Research and Evaluation Initiative seeks applications for research and evaluation projects addressing domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking. Applicant eligibility includes state and local governments, tribes, higher education institutions, and non-profits. Proposals are due April 9, 2024 and should employ qualitative, mixed-method, quasi-experimental, or experimental designs to build the evidence base for effective practices in serving victims and holding offenders accountable. The Department of Justice Offices Boards and Divisions Office on Violence Against Women will evaluate applications under the OVW Research and Evaluation Program (CFDA 16.026).
Award amounts and places of performance will vary depending on the nature and scope of the proposed research or evaluation project. However, priority will be given to projects evaluating strategies that could help OVW grantees maximize the impact of federal funds in preventing and addressing domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking.
Synopsis
The purpose of the Research and Evaluation (R & E) Initiative is to research and evaluate approaches to preventing and addressing domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking. By generating more knowledge about strategies for serving victims and holding offenders accountable, communities that benefit from Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) funding will be better equipped to align their work with practices that are known to be effective as well as build their own capacity to evaluate new and promising ways of doing things. The initiative is designed to support researcher-practitioner partnerships and a broad range of research and evaluation methods, including qualitative, mixed-method, quasi-experimental, and experimental designs. Because OVW has limited funds to support research and evaluation, this initiative prioritizes topics for which a stronger evidence base would help OVW grantees use federal funds most effectively.
