About this opportunity

The Department of Justice's Office of Justice Programs (OVC) is seeking grant applications for the Preventing Trafficking of Girls program, which aims to develop or enhance prevention and early intervention services for girls at risk of or experiencing sex and labor trafficking. The federal grant opportunity targets a comprehensive approach to addressing trafficking, including street outreach, youth-serving organization partnerships, juvenile justice and child welfare system collaborations, and community stakeholder engagement. Eligible applicants include public and private higher education institutions, 501(c)(3) nonprofits, state and tribal governments, and various municipal and special district government entities. Evaluation criteria will likely focus on the applicant's ability to implement trauma-informed, culturally responsive interventions that effectively identify and support vulnerable girls aged 10-24. The critical application deadline is February 24, 2026, with the grant opportunity officially posted on December 30, 2025.

Recent federal grant awards for this program have typically ranged from $437,000 to $500,000, with project periods spanning three years from October 1 to September 30. The funding will support project grants focused on specific geographic regions, with a strong emphasis on high-risk urban and metropolitan areas across the United States. Services are expected to include mentoring, direct victim services, education, crisis intervention, therapeutic support, and comprehensive case management designed to reduce trafficking victimization. Successful applicants will demonstrate a robust, strategic approach to preventing trafficking and providing holistic support for at-risk girls, with priority given to organizations showing innovative and effective intervention strategies.
