About this opportunity

The Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP), under the Department of Justice, is soliciting applications from states, local governments, county governments, tribal governments, and other eligible entities to implement prevention and intervention programs serving children, youth, and families impacted by opioid, stimulant, and other substance use disorders. Applicants must develop comprehensive, data-driven responses that identify, respond to, treat, and support affected populations through coordinated efforts involving law enforcement, education, mental health providers, child welfare agencies, and community-based organizations. Key program activities include evidence-based practices such as trauma-informed counseling, behavioral health services, case management, peer support, positive youth development programming, overdose response coordination, and family engagement services. The evaluation process will include eligibility and responsiveness review, merit review, programmatic assessment, budget review, and risk evaluation as specified in the Notice of Funding Opportunity. The application deadline is May 8, 2026, with an anticipated period of performance beginning June 1, 2026.

Award values are anticipated to range from approximately $570,000 to $750,000 as three-year project grants or cooperative agreements, with performance periods typically spanning 36 months. Successful applicants must maintain all records pertinent to the award for three years from the final expenditure report submission and comply with audit requirements under 2 CFR 200 Subpart F. The authorized representative of selected applicants must accept or decline the award within 45 days of notification through the JustGrants system. Programs will be implemented across diverse geographic regions at the state, local, and tribal jurisdictional levels, with performance periods generally structured from June 1, 2026, through the completion of the three-year grant cycle.

Synopsis

This NOFO will support states, local and Tribal jurisdictions to implement prevention and intervention programs and strategies that identify, respond to, treat, and support children, youth, and families impacted by opioid, stimulant, and other substance use disorders.
