About this opportunity
The Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP), under the Department of Justice Office of Justice Programs, is seeking applications to establish new, enhance existing, or implement statewide or countywide family treatment courts that provide substance use treatment and related services to improve outcomes for children, parents, and families. Eligible applicants include state governments, local governments (city/township and county), federally recognized Tribal governments, and other qualified entities. Applicants must demonstrate capacity to deliver comprehensive substance use treatment services integrated with family support programming. The evaluation will assess eligibility and responsiveness, merit, programmatic effectiveness, budget feasibility, and organizational risk factors. The application deadline is April 27, 2026, with the Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) posted on March 18, 2026.
Awards under the Comprehensive Opioid, Stimulant, and other Substances Use Program (CFDA 16.838) have historically ranged from approximately $248,000 to $8.9 million, with typical project periods spanning three years. Performance will take place at the applicant's jurisdiction, enabling courts to serve substance-involved families within their local or statewide systems. Recipients must comply with federal audit and record retention requirements, maintaining all pertinent records for three years from the date of final expenditure report submission, and adhere to 2 C.F.R. Part 200 and DOJ-specific regulations governing grants administration.
Synopsis
This NOFO will support state and local courts, units of local government, and federally recognized Tribal governments to establish new, enhance existing, or implement statewide or countywide family treatment courts to ensure the provision of substance use treatment and other services that improve child, parent, and family outcomes.
