About this opportunity

This federal grant opportunity from the Department of Justice Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) seeks to assist jurisdictions in planning and assessing promising and evidence-based prevention and intervention services to develop a community-based continuum of care for youth at risk of or already involved in the juvenile justice system. The long-term goal is to support sustainable, research-based, and data-informed recidivism-reduction policies, practices, and programming, and the strategic reinvestment of cost savings into effective prevention and intervention programs for the nation's youth. The opportunity will be awarded through cooperative agreements, and eligible applicants include state/local governments, special districts, tribal governments, and non-profit organizations. Proposals are due by February 24, 2025.

Recent federal grant awards under the Delinquency Prevention Program have ranged from $50,000 to $1.5 million over 1-5 year periods, and have supported initiatives such as developing continuum of care models, implementing arts programs for justice-involved youth, and enhancing local delinquency prevention efforts across the United States.

Synopsis

This funding opportunity seeks to assist jurisdictions in planning and assessing promising and evidence-based prevention and intervention services that will inform the development of a community-based continuum of care for youth at risk of becoming involved or are already involved in the juvenile justice system. The long-term goal of this effort is to support sustainable, research-based, and data-informed recidivism-reduction policies, practices, and programming, and the strategic reinvestment of cost savings realized through accompanying reforms into effective prevention and intervention programs for our nation's youth.
