About this opportunity

The Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention is soliciting applications for grants to establish new or enhance existing juvenile drug treatment courts with an application deadline of October 29, 2026. A mandatory 25 percent non-federal cost match is required, with federal funds covering no more than 75 percent of total project costs.

Eligible applicants are state governments, county governments, city or township governments, and federally recognized Tribal governments. The program offers two funding categories: Category 1 (planning and implementation of new JDTCs) provides up to $1,000,000 per award with 2 anticipated awards; Category 2 (enhancements to existing JDTCs) provides up to $850,000 per award with 2 anticipated awards. Total program funding is $4,000,000. The award period is 36 months beginning January 1, 2027.

Funded juvenile drug treatment courts must integrate mandatory drug testing, substance abuse treatment, participant management services, and treatment adjustments for noncompliance. Programs cannot serve individuals charged with or convicted of violent offenses. Category 1 applicants must provide signed or draft letters of commitment from key drug court team members: a judge, prosecutor, defense attorney, treatment provider, drug court coordinator, law enforcement representative, and community supervision representative.

All applications follow a two-step submission process: the SF-424 form must be submitted in Grants.gov by October 29, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. ET, and the complete application must be submitted in JustGrants by November 5, 2026 at 8:59 p.m. ET. SAM.gov registration must be initiated by September 29, 2026 and completed by October 15, 2026. The program falls under CFDA 16.585 (Treatment Court Discretionary Grant Program).
