Synopsis
The Department of Justice is committed to advancing work that promotes civil rights, increases access to justice, supports crime victims, protects the public from crime and evolving threats, and builds trust between law enforcement and the community. The OJJDP Family Drug Court Program seeks to build the capacity of state and local courts, units of local government, and federally recognized tribal governments to establish new family drug courts, enhance existing family drug courts, or implement statewide or countywide family drug court practices that increase collaboration with substance abuse treatment and child welfare systems to ensure the provision of treatment and other services for families that improve child, parent, and family outcomes.
