About this opportunity
The U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE), in collaboration with the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE), is seeking applicants for the Offshore Wind National and Regional Research and Development funding opportunity. The key objectives are to drive accelerated U.S. floating offshore wind deployment, aid the transition to fixed-bottom platform concepts, advance technologies to monitor bird and bat presence, leverage the strengths of the Great Lakes region, seed a university education and research ecosystem, and improve protection from lightning strikes at offshore wind farms. Applicants will be evaluated on their ability to meet these goals. The solicitation was posted on July 26, 2024, and applications are due by November 7, 2024.
This funding opportunity is part of the Renewable Energy Research and Development program (CFDA 81.087), which typically provides awards ranging from $250,000 to $10 million for projects lasting 1-5 years. Work is expected to be performed at recipient facilities or field sites within the United States.
