About this opportunity

The Department of Education's Office of Elementary and Secondary Education (OESE) is offering grants through the High School Equivalency Program (HEP) to assist migratory or seasonal farmworkers and their immediate family members in obtaining the equivalent of a secondary school diploma. Eligible applicants include institutions of higher education, private non-profit organizations, and other entities that plan to operate the project in cooperation with an institution of higher education. The selection criteria will focus on the applicant's capacity to effectively serve the target population and help them gain improved employment, enter military service, or enroll in postsecondary education or training.

The Department has requested $6,650,000 for new HEP awards in fiscal year 2025, with estimated individual awards ranging from $180,000 to $475,000 per year for up to 60 months. The program aims to enable this target population to achieve economic self-sufficiency through educational attainment, with a focus on serving migrant and seasonal farmworkers across the United States.
