About this opportunity

The National Science Foundation's Division of Ocean Sciences (OCE) is offering postdoctoral research fellowships to provide early-career scientists with opportunities to work across disciplines, develop partnerships, and utilize unique research resources. The fellowships aim to establish these scientists as leaders in the scientific community. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, nationals, or permanent residents, with a particular emphasis on encouraging applications from women, veterans, persons with disabilities, underrepresented minorities in STEM, and those who have attended community colleges or minority-serving institutions. The fellowship program will include a professional development component focused on mentoring skills and increasing the engagement of underrepresented groups in STEM.

The fellowship awards are funded through the National Science Foundation's Geosciences program, which supports fundamental research and educational initiatives across various Earth science disciplines. While the specific award amounts are not provided, the program has demonstrated a wide range of recent grant values, from $79,139 to $4,893,936, typically spanning 1-5 year project periods. The research is expected to be conducted at academic facilities, field sites, scientific observatories, and research vessels across the United States, with opportunities for interdisciplinary and international collaboration.
