About this opportunity
The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) is soliciting applications for the Nurse Faculty Loan Program (NFLP) to fund student loan programs at accredited schools of nursing, with an application deadline of July 10, 2026. HRSA plans to distribute $25,600,000 across approximately 80 grants, with individual awards up to $2,000,000; this is a formula-based program in which all eligible and complete applications receive funding distributed according to a formula calculation, which may allocate zero funds to some successful applicants depending on prior fund balances and loan activity.
Eligible applicants are accredited schools of nursing with advanced education programs (master's and doctoral level) located in the 50 U.S. states, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, U.S. territories, and tribal organizations that own and operate accredited nursing schools. Applicants must establish and maintain an interest-bearing loan fund and contribute an Institutional Capital Contribution equal to at least one-ninth of the federal award amount.
Successful applicants will disburse low-interest loans to students enrolled in advanced nursing degree programs for eligible education expenses up to $50,000 per student annually. NFLP graduates receive cancellation of up to 85 percent of principal and interest if they work full-time as nursing faculty for up to four years; the program also encourages Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) to serve as full-time preceptors within academic-practice partnerships.
The performance period runs from September 1, 2026, to June 30, 2027. Applications must include accreditation documentation, maintenance of effort statements, loan disbursement plans, collaborative partnership statements, and NFLP Program Specific Data Forms. Continuation applicants with default rates exceeding five percent or noncompliance with loan disbursements for two or more years are deemed ineligible. The CFDA number is 93.264.
