About this opportunity
The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration is soliciting applications for the National Center for Child Traumatic Stress - Category 1 cooperative agreement, with applications due July 13, 2026. The award funds a national coordinating center serving the National Child Traumatic Stress Initiative (NCTSI) network.
Eligible applicants include domestic private and public non-profit organizations (including faith-based organizations), public organizations, states (including the District of Columbia, U.S. Territories, and Pacific Jurisdictions), political subdivisions of states, consortia of political subdivisions of states, public or private institutions of higher education, Indian tribes or tribal organizations, federally recognized tribal governments, health facilities and hospitals, programs operated under contract or award with the Indian Health Service, state or local education agencies, and tribal education agencies.
The National Center must develop and maintain a collaborative network structure, support resource and policy development and dissemination, and coordinate the network's national child trauma education, training, technical assistance, and service-system improvement efforts.
The funding instrument is a cooperative agreement. Applications undergo merit review including a description of the proposed project, followed by program analysis and concurrence by the CMHS National Advisory Council before direct award to the applicant organization. A three-year records retention requirement applies; records must be retained beyond three years if final audit has not been completed or findings resolved.
This opportunity is assigned to the Center for Mental Health Services Projects of Regional and National Significance program (CFDA 93.532).
