About this opportunity

The NASA Innovative Advanced Concepts (NIAC) Phase I grant opportunity, funded under NASA's Space Technology Program, seeks proposals for studying visionary yet credible advanced concepts. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is the federal agency issuing this solicitation. Key requirements include a two-step proposal process, where applicants must first submit a brief Step A proposal by July 1, 2024, followed by an expanded Step B proposal (by invitation only) due September 19, 2024. All categories of U.S. organizations may apply, and non-U.S. organizations may participate on a no-exchange of funds basis. Proposals will be evaluated on factors such as technical merit, innovation, and potential impact.

The NIAC Phase I grants do not specify a fixed award amount or quantity. The program supports innovative research through Phase I, Phase II, and Phase III awards, though the scope of this particular solicitation is for the initial Phase I studies. The place of performance is not explicitly stated, but as a NASA program, the research is expected to be conducted in alignment with the agency's goals and objectives.
