About this opportunity
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) is seeking applicants for a cooperative agreement to add navigation attributes to acoustic fields and potentially electric fields within the OpenFOAM framework, while also computing hydraulic variables. The resulting dataset will include sound field, flow field, navigation attributes impacting acoustic/flow fields, and electrical field as applicable. The successful offeror will process ambient and intentional acoustic and hydrological data, while USACE will process operations, navigation, and AIS data. Statements of Interest are due by May 24, 2024, and if invited, full proposals are due by June 24, 2024.
The estimated award ceiling is $175,000 for Year 1, with $125,000 each for Option Years 2 and 3, for a total of $425,000 over 3 years. This opportunity is restricted to non-federal partners of the Pacific Northwest Cooperative Ecosystems Studies Unit (CESU) and is funded under the Basic, Applied, and Advanced Research in Science and Engineering program (CFDA 12.630).
Synopsis
This project will involve close collaboration with the successful offeror and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC). This project will involve adding the navigation attributes to acoustic fields and potentially electric fields within the OpenFOAM framework, while still computing hydraulic variables. The resulting data set will include a sound field, a flow field, various navigation attributes that are found to impact either the acoustic and/or flow fields, and electrical field as appropriate. A field site with supporting geometry, acoustic data, lock operations data, navigation data, and AIS data will be provided by the USACE. The successful offeror will be responsible for processing ambient and intentional (that is the acoustic deterrent) acoustic and hydrological data as appropriate. Operations, navigation, and AIS data will be processed by USACE, which would include the removal/recoding of vessel identifications.
