About this opportunity

The NASA Office of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Engagement (OSTEM) Minority University Research and Education Project (MUREP) Aeronautics Community & Environmental Impact Research (ACEIR) is a federal grant opportunity that seeks proposals from Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs) to conduct interdisciplinary research into the environmental and societal impacts of future air transportation technology and infrastructure on overburdened communities. The goal is to develop equitable, safe, affordable, and accessible approaches to the future of aviation. MSIs are expected to apply their unique perspectives, experiences, and community relationships to this area of local, regional, and national interest, contributing to creating a more equitable future of aviation. The evaluation criteria will focus on the institution's ability to engage their faculty and students in this research, build capacity, and contribute to increasing the diversity of the STEM workforce.

The federal grant awards under this opportunity are structured as Cooperative Agreements, typically ranging from $40,000 to $2 million with performance periods of 1-3 years. The projects are expected to be performed at the recipient MSI institutions, with potential involvement from NASA centers. The application deadline for this opportunity is March 3, 2025.
