About this opportunity
The U.S. Department of State's Embassy Bogota is soliciting applications to fund "Mi Tierra, Mi Triunfo: Colombians Thriving After Their Return," a media production initiative documenting Colombians who voluntarily returned from the United States or built successful lives domestically, with applications due August 31, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. U.S. Eastern Time.
Eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations, educational institutions, individuals, media production firms, journalists, and journalism collectives with demonstrated experience in digital video, documentary production, or photojournalism and capability to operate in Colombian border and ecologically sensitive regions. For-profit entities are not eligible. Both Colombia-based and U.S.-based applicants may apply. All organizations must obtain a Unique Entity Identifier and maintain active registration in SAM.gov.
The program anticipates one award with a minimum of $40,000 and maximum of $50,000 in FY26 Public Diplomacy funds. The project spans six months or less, with an anticipated start date of September 20, 2026. Work is performed in Valle del Cauca, Cauca, Risaralda, Quindio, Caldas, Antioquia, and Bogota—high-emigration regions identified as priority areas.
The initiative will produce short-form digital video profiles and written testimonials distributed through Embassy platforms and Colombian media outlets, with potential for longer-form documentary. Content emphasizes resilience, purpose, and opportunity available in Colombia, advancing the Administration's priority of reducing irregular migration to the United States at the source consistent with Executive Order 14287.
Evaluation criteria weigh quality and feasibility of the program idea (30 points), organizational capacity and grant history (25 points), project planning and ability to achieve objectives (20 points), budget (10 points), monitoring and evaluation plans (10 points), and sustainability (5 points).
The program operates under CFDA 19.040 (Public Diplomacy Programs). Required application materials include SF-424 or SF-424-I forms, SF-424A budget forms, a three-page maximum proposal, detailed line-item budgets with justification narratives, key personnel resumes, letters of support from partners, proof of nonprofit status, and proof of SAM.gov registration. The Applicant Organization Information survey and budget narrative template are mandatory attachments.
Synopsis
The U.S. Department of State's Embassy Bogota announces an open competition to implement "Mi Tierra, Mi Triunfo: Colombians Thriving After Their Return," a media production initiative documenting the experiences of Colombians who voluntarily returned to Colombia after living in the United States, or who chose to remain in Colombia and build successful lives despite economic, security, or social pressures to migrate. The program will produce short-form digital video profiles and written testimonials, with potential for a longer-form documentary, distributed through Embassy platforms and Colombian media outlets. Content will be non-political, community-sourced, and rooted in authentic personal storytelling - emphasizing resilience, purpose, and opportunity available in Colombia. This program directly advances the Administration's priority of reducing irregular migration to the United States at the source, consistent with Executive Order 14287, while strengthening the Mission's public diplomacy engagement with Colombian audiences in high-emigration regions.
