Grant activities must develop a heterogeneous trainee pool equipped with knowledge, skills, and abilities to advance diagnostics, therapeutics, clinical interventions, and behavioral modifications, and support meaningful translational science research projects addressing demonstrable stakeholder community needs.
Applicants must use either General Instructions or filtered Training Instructions when preparing submissions and must follow form instructions specifically designated for Training applications, identified by an "Additional Instructions for Training" banner. The FORMS-I application guide is attached and posted March 24, 2025.
Peer review comprises institutional committees of biomedical research and science education authorities conducting merit evaluation, followed by NCATS Advisory Council review and award recommendation. Evaluation criteria assess scientific merit and significance, technical adequacy of experimental design, investigator competency, facility and resource adequacy, budget necessity, relevance to program objectives, and fund availability.
The opportunity falls under CFDA 93.350 (National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences). Grantees must retain financial and programmatic records for three years from annual financial status report submission.
