About this opportunity
The National Institutes of Health seeks applicants for Resource Core Centers within the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK), Kidney, Urology, and Hematology (KUH) Diseases mission; this is a forecast notice with no specified application deadline.
Eligible applicants include county governments, special district governments, public and private higher education institutions, 501(c)(3) and non-501(c)(3) nonprofits, independent school districts, public or Indian housing authorities, state governments, small businesses, federally recognized tribal governments, for-profit organizations, tribal organizations not federally recognized, city/township governments, Indian/Native American tribal governments (other than federally recognized), eligible federal agencies, U.S. territories or possessions, and faith-based or community-based organizations.
Each Resource Core Center is designed to advance national research efforts by sharing unique research resources—including data, reagents, models, tools, services, and expertise—with the broader community. Centers are expected to work collaboratively with a Center Coordinating Hub (U24) to form a national network. The opportunity falls under CFDA 93.847, Diabetes, Digestive, and Kidney Diseases Extramural Research, which prioritizes fundamental and clinical studies addressing etiology, pathogenesis, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diabetes mellitus and its complications; metabolic disorders; genetics and genomics of the gastrointestinal tract, liver, pancreas, and nutrition; liver disease complications including fatty liver disease and viral hepatitis; gastrointestinal mucosal immunology; and kidney disease mechanisms.
Applications are reviewed initially for scientific merit by an appropriate review panel and the NIDDK Advisory Council. Evaluation criteria assess scientific merit and significance, technical adequacy of experimental design, investigator competency, adequacy of facilities and resources, budget necessity, and relevance to program objectives.
