About this opportunity
The National Institutes of Health is soliciting applications for the Kidney Precision Medicine Project (KPMP) Central Hub through cooperative agreement funding, with an application due date of July 10, 2026. The funding instrument is a cooperative agreement under CFDA 93.847 (Diabetes, Digestive, and Kidney Diseases Extramural Research).
Eligible applicants include a broad range of entity types: independent school districts, 501(c)(3) and non-501(c)(3) nonprofits, public and private higher education institutions, tribal governments (federally and non-federally recognized), tribal organizations, state and county governments, city and township governments, special district governments, public or Indian housing authorities, and for-profit organizations.
The Central Hub will support the KPMP cohort by collecting and de-identifying all existing and new clinical data and samples, providing scientific and infrastructure support, quality control, project management, and administrative functions. The Hub will collaborate with Recruitment Sites, Tissue Interrogation Sites, and the Kidney Tissue Atlas Coordinating Center to obtain and evaluate kidney biopsies from participants with acute kidney injury (AKI) or chronic kidney disease (CKD). The Hub will also lead strategic oversight for the entire KPMP portfolio, steward advanced computational analyses and data management, manage communication and outreach, and oversee business operations. Required activities include leading discovery efforts to define new acute and chronic kidney disease pathways and subgroups that enable precision clinical trials, creating a Kidney Tissue Atlas, defining disease subgroups, and identifying critical cells, interstitial components, pathways, and targets for novel therapies. All KPMP personnel must actively participate in scientific discovery and promote open science principles.
Award ceiling, floor, and number of awards are not specified in the source material.
Synopsis
