Eligible applicants include non-profit organizations, faith-based groups, and for-profit companies capable of serving one or more of the specified service areas in communities across Illinois. Applicants must propose service models and per-child costs, demonstrate community need, and establish qualifications to implement high-quality early education, health, and family support services. Applications will be evaluated based on the proposed approach, past performance, staffing plans, organizational capacity, and ability to begin serving children with minimal startup periods to ensure continuity of care. Funding available totals $6.3 million to support 60-month Head Start, Early Head Start, or combined programs. Grants will fund services in the specified communities and service areas within Illinois to strengthen local early childhood systems and optimize federal resources to prepare at-risk children for school success.
