About this opportunity

The Department of Health and Human Services Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) is seeking grant applications for the Comprehensive Community Mental Health Services for Children with Serious Emotional Disturbances program. The purpose of this program is to improve mental health outcomes for children and youth, birth through age 21, with serious emotional disturbances, and their families. Grants will support the implementation, expansion, and integration of the System of Care approach by creating sustainable infrastructure and services. Key objectives include developing cross-agency collaboration, implementing evidence-based practices, providing comprehensive mental health and support services, engaging families and youth, building capacity for trauma-informed care, and improving policies and financing mechanisms. The application deadline is February 14, 2024.

Federal grant awards under this program typically range from $1-4 million per year for 4-year project periods. Common recipients include state and local government agencies, tribal organizations, and non-profit community mental health providers. Awards often support expanding System of Care infrastructure and services in specific geographic regions or statewide. Performance of work will likely occur within communities and across service systems throughout the United States to enhance mental health outcomes for children.
