About this opportunity
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is seeking grant applications for the Adaptive Sports Grant Program, aimed at supporting organizations that develop and implement adaptive sports programs for disabled veterans and members of the Armed Forces. Eligible non-federal entities must demonstrate significant experience managing large-scale adaptive sports programs, with key personnel having at least two continuous years of experience working with persons with disabilities. The program prioritizes activities that improve veterans' independence, well-being, and quality of life through sports instruction, participation, and competition across various adaptive sports disciplines. Evaluation criteria will likely focus on the applicant's organizational capacity, program design, geographic reach, and potential impact on veteran rehabilitation and wellness. The application deadline is July 2, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. Eastern Time, with award notifications expected by September 30, 2025.
The VA will award up to $16,000,000 in grants, with individual grant awards limited to $750,000 per 12-month period. Renewal applications are permitted a maximum 5% increase from the previous year's funding. Administrative expenses are capped at 5% of the total grant budget, and the funding is specifically targeted at providing adaptive sports activities, training, technical assistance, and program development for veterans with various disabilities. The grant program falls under CFDA Number 64.034 and will support programs nationwide, with a focus on underserved activities and geographic regions. Notably, applications focused on equine therapy for mental health must be submitted under a separate funding opportunity (VA-EQUINE-25).
