About this opportunity
This Notice of Funding Opportunity announces grant awards from the Environmental Protection Agency to address indoor air pollution in schools. Eligible applicants including states, tribes, local governments and nonprofits can apply for awards between $5-8 million over five years to monitor and reduce greenhouse gas emissions and indoor air pollutants. Applicants must develop indoor air quality management plans consistent with EPA guidance and tools, while targeting assistance to low-income, disadvantaged and tribal schools. Proposals will be evaluated based on their alignment with EPA strategies and objectives to conduct outreach, increase indoor air quality plan adoption, and support workforce development. Applications are due by March 19, 2024.
Anticipated total funding is $32 million distributed across four to six awards. Projects must address at least two of four areas: indoor air quality and greenhouse gas reduction capacity building, tribal capacity building, training and education, or research and demonstration. Eligible schools and districts serve low-income, disadvantaged, and tribal communities across rural, suburban and urban areas. Selections will occur by May 2024, with anticipated awards by October 2024 under the Clean Air Act assistance program 66.034.
