About this opportunity
The Bureau of Land Management seeks applicants for cooperative agreements to fund rangeland resource management work with an application deadline of August 14, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. ET. Eligible applicants include state and county governments, city and township governments, special district governments, public and private higher education institutions, federally recognized and non-federally recognized tribal governments and organizations, and 501(c)(3) and non-501(c)(3) nonprofits; individuals and for-profit organizations are ineligible. No cost share is required.
The program will award approximately $1.8 million across approximately 7 cooperative agreements, with individual awards ranging from $50,000 (floor) to $250,000 (ceiling). The period of performance extends 60 months, from December 31, 2026, through December 30, 2031. Work is performed on BLM-administered lands in eligible BLM regions; applications from Headquarters, Eastern States, Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana/Dakotas, Nevada, Oregon/Washington, and Utah are excluded. New Mexico and Wyoming applicants must align with state-specific priorities emphasizing inventory, monitoring, reclamation, restoration, terrestrial monitoring, soil sampling, and range improvement analysis.
Funded projects must focus on high-priority activities crossing state boundaries, including facilitating rangeland restoration, soils mapping and development of ecological site descriptions, and engagement of community members and stakeholders through mentoring, training, and educational programs. Primary objectives address maintaining or achieving land health and productivity, increasing soil carbon sequestration, and creating resilient landscapes.
The program operates under CFDA 15.237 (Rangeland Resource Management). Applicants must register in SAM.gov, obtain a Unique Entity Identifier, and submit applications through Grants.gov using the Standard Form 424 package and required attachments. Selected recipients must establish accounts with ASAP.gov and GrantSolutions for payment and reporting. Projects are subject to substantial BLM involvement in management, review and approval of work stages, and compliance with federal financial and geospatial data standards. Award decisions are made at the State Director level following eligibility screening, merit evaluation, and responsibility determination, with most awards anticipated within 90 days of solicitation close.
