About this opportunity
The U.S. Department of Justice's Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS Office) is seeking applications for the FY25 Law Enforcement Mental Health and Wellness Act (LEMHWA) Invitational program. The primary objective is to improve mental health and wellness services for law enforcement through implementing peer support, training, family resources, suicide prevention, and other promising wellness programs. The grant opportunity is structured as a cooperative agreement, with the applicant required to have primary responsibility for administering funding, managing the project, and monitoring compliance. Eligible applicants include various entities, with the possibility of including subrecipients in the project. The application deadline is June 24, 2025, and the program aligns with broader Administration priorities of supporting law enforcement through enhanced support services and collaborative approaches. While specific evaluation criteria are not detailed in the provided description, the focus appears to be on comprehensive mental health support strategies for law enforcement personnel.
The grant opportunity is part of a federal initiative to support law enforcement wellness, though specific award amounts are not specified in the provided documentation. The program is nationwide in scope, with no geographic limitations mentioned. Future awards will be subject to the availability of appropriated funds and potential modifications imposed by law. All awards must comply with existing Executive Orders and Attorney General memoranda related to law enforcement support. The cooperative agreement structure suggests ongoing collaboration between the selected organization(s) and the COPS Office throughout the implementation of mental health and wellness programs.
