About this opportunity

The FY25 Defense University Research Instrumentation Program seeks proposals from accredited U.S. institutions of higher education to purchase major research equipment or instrumentation costing $50,000 or more to enhance DoD-funded basic and applied research and research-related education. Administered by the Army Research Office, Office of Naval Research and Air Force Office of Scientific Research, proposals are due February 16, 2024 and will be evaluated based on the impact on DoD-funded research, priority of the research for DoD missions, and potential to enhance education of future scientists and engineers. Awards will be granted by December 2024 to support research instrumentation in scientific disciplines of interest to the Department of Defense.

Individual award amounts typically range from $50,000 to $3 million, though higher amounts may be considered with cost sharing. Up to $53 million total will be awarded to support research instrumentation and the work is expected to be performed at accredited institutions of higher education in the United States conducting basic and applied research relevant to DoD priorities.
